Israel: Tens of thousands protest in Tel Aviv against the Gaza War

According to media reports, tens of thousands of people have demonstrated against the expansion of the Gaza War planned by the Israeli leadership. The forum of the relatives of those hostages that the Islamist Hamas dragged into the Gaza strip called for the rally. The hostage families fear for the life of their loved ones if the military should implement the plans.

“My Jossi was killed because of the intensity of the fights,” called Nira Scharabi, the widow of the Geisel Jossi Scharabi, who had died, according to a report by the newspaper “Haaretz” into the crowd. An Israeli rocket killed him at the scene of his captivity. “The decision of the security cabinet to start a military operation to take the (entire) Gaza strip knowingly puts the life of hostages in danger.”

The Israeli security cabinet under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided on Friday that the military should take the city of Gaza – possibly with the aim of taking control of the entire coastal area. The military assumes that the hostages are recorded in areas that the army currently does not control, i.e. in the city of Gaza.

According to Israeli assessment, there are currently 50 hostages in the violence of Hamas, of which around 20 are still alive. The trigger of the Gaza War was the attack by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist organizations on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 were dragged into the Gaza strip. Since then, more than 61,000 people have been killed by the Hamas controlled health authority.
