In Saxony and Bavaria, a right-wing splinter party posted an appeal to kill the Greens. While the party of Chancellor candidate Baerbock is filing complaints, a public prosecutor in Zwickau sees no need for action. The city does.
The Greens in Saxony are taking action against an election poster for the extreme right-wing extremist party “III. Way”. The poster with the slogan “Hang the Greens!” first appeared in Zwickau, but has since been hung up in northern Saxony, Vogtland and Leipzig, said a Green spokeswoman on Wednesday. The party will report to the responsible public prosecutor’s offices. The Greens see the motif as a public call for crimes.
The Greens had put an initial advertisement in Zwickau, where the poster for “III. Way” was hung up on Monday night – specifically through campaigns by the Greens. On Tuesday, one of the calls for killing hung on a lantern directly in front of the Zwickau constituency office of the Greens.
Zwickau public prosecutor’s office: “No serious appeal”
The Zwickau public prosecutor has not initiated any investigations against the splinter party. A spokeswoman said on request that the posters did not constitute a request for a specific act. “This is not a serious appeal to attack someone in a certain place and on a certain day.”
Now the city of Zwickau steps in. She has electoral posters for the right-wing extremist splinter party “III. Way” removed. The city administration announced on Wednesday that the party should remove the posters within three days. If that doesn’t happen, the city will remove the posters itself. the reason given was that the slogan was a violation of public order and human dignity.
“If necessary we will remove the posters”
Sebastian Lasch, head of the regulatory affairs department, explained: “Anyone who hangs up such works should take them off again themselves. However, if necessary we will have the posters removed!”
Similar to the city of Zwickau, the Munich police seem to be evaluating the election posters. He shows a photo on which police officers apparently hang such an election poster.
The small party combines the criticized slogan on the poster with its own green party color. In smaller print it says on the motif: “Make our national revolutionary movement known in town and country through poster advertising in our party colors!”
Attention through breaking taboos
The Zwickau Greens chairman Thomas Doye had declared that the “III. Way” was trying “to generate attention by breaking taboos” and to spread its political agenda.
