Watch the video: Netanyahu in Israel before a comeback – right-wing camp ahead in forecasts.

STORY: In Israel, ex-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is about to return to office as the head of government. According to forecasts, his right-wing alliance won a narrow majority in the parliamentary elections on Tuesday. Post-election polls showed 61 or 62 seats in the 120-seat Knesset. The final election result, which is not expected until later in the week, may differ from the forecast. The question of whether the small Arab party Balad can enter parliament also plays an important role. This would have some impact on the distribution of seats and could jeopardize Netanyahu’s majority. In a first statement, Netanyahu spoke of a “good start”, but warned to wait for the final result. Netanyahu has been prime minister several times and is on trial on corruption charges. One indication of the rise of radical groups is the success of the ultra-nationalist Itamar Ben-Gwir. According to the forecast, his “Jewish power” will have 15 mandates, two more than assumed in surveys. He had previously been convicted of racist hate speech. Acting Prime Minister Jair Lapid was part of an anti-Netanyahu alliance. In June, the previous eight-party coalition he led lost its majority after just twelve months. The election campaign was determined by questions of national security and inflation, which was also noticeable in Israel. It was the fifth election in less than four years in the deeply divided country.
