The Left Party and its Rostock Senator for Social Affairs, Steffen Bockhahn, have been crunching for a long time. Now he’s drawing the line – and pointing to the attitude of the left to Putin.

The social senator of the Hanseatic city of Rostock and former member of the Bundestag Steffen Bockhahn is leaving his party Die Linke after more than 27 years. One of the reasons he gave was his party’s attitude towards Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

The left is unable to name and ostracize “the fascist dictator Putin” as such, he wrote on his website. “She doesn’t succeed in making him the perpetrator and denouncing the war crimes in Ukraine for which he is responsible.” NDR was the first to announce the resignation.

“Putin is a mass murderer”

The party does not even manage to denounce Putin for the more than 200,000 Russian soldiers killed. “Putin is a mass murderer, not only of other peoples, but even of his own. What’s so difficult about naming that and clearly defining oneself?” asked Bockhahn in his statement, entitled “It’s over after 27 years ” carries.

The 44-year-old, who was born in Rostock, was a directly elected member of the Bundestag from 2009 to 2013. From 2009 to 2012 he was state chairman of the left in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and from 2004 to 2014 a member of the left parliamentary group in the Rostock citizenship, where he also held the office of parliamentary group leader.
