Wages: collective bargaining dispute in the public sector: negotiations continue

The trade unions are demanding an increase in federal and local income for their employees. The second round of tariffs is now pending. If no agreement is reached, further warning strikes are threatened.

The heads of the negotiating teams want to continue to discuss the collective bargaining dispute about federal and local employees on Thursday. The talks were prepared in small groups well into the night. The second round of negotiations was scheduled for Thursday.

So far, there has been no agreement in sight in the collective bargaining dispute: the unions are demanding an increase in income by 10.5 percent, but at least 500 euros more per month. This is to prevent high inflation from eating up a large proportion of real wages. However, the employer side rejects the demand as economically unmanageable.
