Germans really like Robert Habeck – according to a stern survey

Robert Habeck wants to ban oil or gas heating. Citizens are up in arms against such plans. But most people find the responsible minister really nice.

Economics Minister Robert Habeck has received a lot of criticism for his proposals – most recently for the ban on installing new gas and oil heating systems. Apparently, the reputation of the Green politician suffers surprisingly little. 53 percent of Germans like the Green politician. This was the result of a Forsa survey commissioned by the star. These are significantly better values than Chancellor Olaf Scholz (43 percent) or CDU leader Friedrich Merz (24 percent) achieved in previous surveys on the same question. It is not surprising that the Greens voters particularly like the Vice Chancellor (85 percent). However, the comparison shows that this is an exceptional value: SPD supporters only call Scholz 63 percent sympathetic, Union voters Merz only 39 percent.

Also in another point of starproperty profile, Habeck scores very well: 55 percent say that he speaks clearly. At second glance, however, there are definitely scratches on the economics minister’s image: only 44 percent consider him competent and 43 percent trustworthy. The values drop significantly for the tougher criteria: Only 35 percent of Germans consider the Vice Chancellor to be a strong leader; 37 percent of Germans say that Habeck knows what moves people. And apparently sometimes that is oil heating.

The data was collected by the market and opinion research institute forsa for the RTL Group Germany on March 9th and 10th, 2023. Database: 1009 respondents. Statistical error tolerance: +/- 3 percentage points

The property profiles for Scholz and Merz were collected in January 2023
