In several European countries, among other things, the rapid movement of troops is to be practiced from the end of April. Tens of thousands of soldiers will take part in “Defender 2023” – from the USA and Europe.

The United States, Germany and two dozen other countries are planning a large-scale maneuver lasting almost two months. “Parts of the exercise will extend to ten different European countries,” announced a spokeswoman for the US Department of Defense on Wednesday (local time).

In addition to almost 9,000 US soldiers, 17,000 soldiers from 26 mainly European countries are to take part in the “Defender 2023” maneuver. The exercise begins on April 22nd.

Among other things, the maneuver is intended to demonstrate the ability to quickly move combat-ready troops and equipment “to give allies security and deter those who threaten peace in Europe,” said the spokeswoman. The equipment arrived in Spain this week and is now being moved to other locations. About 7,000 pieces of equipment were shipped to Europe.
