Correction Notice
Russia has after US intelligence assessmentn suffered heavy losses in recent months. Since December, more than 20,000 Russian soldiers were killed and around 80,000 woundedNational Security Council communications director John Kirby said in Washington yesterday. At first it was unclearwhether the information on Ukraine as a whole or only on the battles for the eastern Ukrainian city Bachmut relate.
There was conflicting information about this: Kirby had initially made it clear that the numbers refer “solely to the battles for Bachmut”. His deputy Sean Savett later corrected this, telling the Washington Post that the figures reflected Russian losses across Ukraine since December. These numbers cannot be independently verified.
