Closeness to nature, interest in architecture, social conscience – much of what we associate with King Charles today was once exemplified by Queen Victoria’s German husband Prince Albert. The star went in search of clues in the Scottish Highlands, where King Charles can simply be “the neighbor” today.
Saturday night in Ballater, a village on the banks of the River Dee. In the pub “The Barrel” a group of mostly older men meet for a beer or two. Wearing tartan skirts and sporrans, Highland lederhosen and chamois beard hats, they’re about to go to the annual Ballater Highland Games dinner. “Come on to that later,” says one of them, his name is Robb. “That will be fun!”
