In Florida, there will be a stricter ban on abortion in the future. One who has fought against it to the last minute is Democratic Rep. Robin Bartleman. In conversation with the star she tells why the topic is personal to her.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a stricter abortion ban in April. Once it comes into force, abortions will only be possible up to the sixth week. How did you react to that, Ms. Bartleman?
Robin Bartleman: It was an absolute shock. I feel like our society is going backwards right now. Whether it’s abortions, banned books in school libraries or hate speech against trans people, every time you turn around, a right is taken again. For me, the issue of abortion is very personal. One in four women in the US has an abortion. But in a million years I didn’t think it would ever affect me…
