Europe Day commemorates the Schuman Declaration made by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman in Paris in 1950, a milestone on the way to the founding of the EU. In Israel, too, whose most important trading partner is the EU, the day is commemorated every year – including with a high-ranking diplomatic reception.
