Orban is at odds with other EU members over the Ukraine war and has blocked EU aid to Kiev. At the Qatar Economic Forum, he said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was the result of a “failure of diplomacy.” He insists that Ukraine cannot win the war. “Looking at the reality, at the numbers, at the environment, looking at the fact that NATO is not ready to send soldiers, it is obvious that there is no victory for poor Ukrainians on the battlefield,” he says. “This is my position.”
