The Moscow-born writer Wladimir Kaminer (“Russian disco”) is hoping for resistance in Russia to the government there led by President Vladimir Putin. This could be people like an “officer with a code of honor,” he told the private radio station Hit Radio FFH in Bad Vilbel. “You have a unique opportunity to blame everything on a pensioner and say we have nothing to do with it, that was his war.”
According to the writer, Putin is someone who is referred to in Russia as a “garage pensioner”. “These were the ones who like to talk about geopolitical issues behind the garage, ‘everything used to be better how stupid America is’ That’s fine as long as that man isn’t in the presidential chair, but if you live in a country that’s being… this pensioner is a disaster. I hope this all ends soon.”
The war in Ukraine is also a tragedy for Russia. “The houses are there, but the internal disintegration of the state and society cannot be overlooked,” emphasized Kaminer. The people had been thrown into the war without knowing it.
