Watch the video: G20 summit begins.
The G20 summit officially began in India on Saturday. President Narendra Modi received the heads of state and government of the member states in the capital, including Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. It was previously announced that the African Union (AU) would be included in the group of the most important industrialized and emerging countries. This would give the AU, which brings together 55 member states of the continent, the same status as the European Union. The G20 is an important forum for international economic cooperation. Topics such as climate change are also regularly on the agenda at the meetings. However, not all heads of state and government are taking part in the current summit in New Delhi. In addition to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese leader Xi Jinping is also missing.
