The climate movement Fridays for Future is calling for a strike against the fatal consequences of the climate crisis. However, according to a survey, the effectiveness of a global day of action in Germany is questioned.
According to a survey, a majority of Germans think demonstrations for climate protection are good, but many doubt the effectiveness of such protests.
In the new ZDF political barometer, 65 percent supported the climate demonstrations, while 29 percent did not like them. However, only 16 percent believe that a lot or a lot can be achieved for climate protection. 59 percent think that they do “not that much” and 23 percent think that they do nothing at all.
Demonstrations in almost 250 locations in Germany
With demonstrations in almost 250 locations in Germany this Friday, the climate protection movement Fridays for Future wants to demand more ambition from politicians in the fight against global warming. Hundreds more rallies and so-called climate strikes are planned in schools around the globe – demanding a rapid exit from coal, oil and gas.
For the political barometer, the Mannheim Elections Research Group surveyed 1,201 eligible voters in Germany from September 12th to 14th. The survey is representative of the population eligible to vote in Germany.
