Hubert Aiwanger tightens the tone before coalition negotiations with the CSU. He recommends that the CSU “not act so girly now.” He calls for another ministry for his free voters.
The Free Voters Party leader Hubert Aiwanger, who emerged stronger from Sunday’s state elections, has registered claims for a fourth ministry for the next government formation. “If you look at the election results, I believe that everyone can calculate how many ministries we are entitled to,” said Aiwanger on Monday in Munich. “Any elementary school student can calculate who gets how much.” The Free Voters gained 4.2 percent to 15.8 percent on Sunday, the CSU lost 0.2 points to 37.0 percent. The Free Voters have so far led the economics, culture and environment ministries.
“We are the winner of this state election in this Bavaria coalition,” said Aiwanger. “We are the guarantee for a stable, civil Bavaria,” he emphasized. His party prevents the edges from gaining strength and guarantees a policy of the “good middle”. He warned the CSU against distancing itself from the Free Voters. “Any demarcation from us means a departure from common sense,” said Aiwanger. “I would recommend that the CSU not act so girlish now.”
Aiwanger: Enter coalition negotiations quickly
He called on the CSU to quickly enter into coalition negotiations. “No major personnel or structural debates,” said Aiwanger. It’s not about licking wounds forever, but about entering into discussions immediately about how Bavaria should continue to be governed in the future.
Aiwanger, who is also federal chairman of the Free Voters, also confirmed his federal political ambitions on Monday. “I am very convinced that we will sit in the next Bundestag,” he said. The Free Voters wanted to show that they can “federate”.
The political demands of the Free Voters
In terms of content, Aiwanger suggested introducing a benefit-in-kind card for refugees as quickly as possible, which would largely replace the current payment of cash. “We need the possibility for an asylum seeker to hold a card in his hand with which he can only shop in certain shops,” said the FW party leader. In addition, asylum seekers should in future be available for the labor market after three months at the latest.
When it comes to agricultural policy, the Free Voters want to make it easier for Bavaria to deal with artificial fertilizer. It is also urgent to reorganize the hospital landscape in Bavaria, as well as to increase staff in the judiciary.
