Fighting continues even two days after the massive attack on Israel by the Islamist Hamas. The Israeli Air Force is bombing more Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip and the country is mobilizing around 300,000 reservists. In response to the conflict, the USA is moving an aircraft carrier and other warships to the eastern Mediterranean. Oil prices rose significantly – market observers pointed to fears of an oil shortage, particularly due to an interruption in the supply of crude oil from Iran.
