Time and again, the US Republicans present a candidate for the office of Speaker in the House of Representatives. And again and again the candidate fails the internal primary – this could soon have drastic consequences.
The disunity within the Republicans seems grotesque since the US House of Representatives has been sinking into chaos without a leader for weeks. This not only has serious consequences domestically.
It now sounds benevolent to describe the events in the US House of Representatives as “chaotic” – and actually it is too passive to use the word “events”. Because the Republicans are themselves responsible for what seems like a daily soap.
