In Lebanon is amid military tensions A soldier from the UN observation mission Unifil was injured on the border with Israel. The incident occurred on Saturday during mortar shelling of a Unifil base in the eastern part of the border area, as the observer mission announced on Sunday on X, formerly Twitter. It was initially unclear who the fire came from.
At the Another firefight broke out on Israel’s border with Lebanon on Saturday. Since the beginning of the Gaza war, there have been increasing exchanges of fire along the demarcation line between Israel’s military and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia, which has ties to Hamas. There have already been fatalities on both sides.
Unifil, the so-called United Nations interim force in Lebanon, has existed since 1978. It is considered one of the oldest active UN observer missions.
