Public transport strike: When will the strike take place this week?

New week, new round of strikes: The Verdi union wants to paralyze buses and trains, especially on Thursday and Friday. You can find out more about your region in this overview.

Buses and trains are expected to go on strike this week in all federal states except Bavaria. Verdi has called for industrial action that will last the whole week and culminate on Friday. Then the climate protection activists from Fridays for Future are also calling for a climate strike day, together with Verdi.

The union is negotiating for better working conditions for collectively agreed employees and is demanding, for example, a 35-hour week, limited shift lengths and longer rest periods between shifts, but also more vacation days and more vacation pay. Baden-Württemberg

In Baden-Württemberg there will be strikes all day on Thursday and Friday. According to Verdi, transport associations in seven cities are affected: Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, Freiburg, Baden-Baden, Esslingen and Konstanz.

Last week, transport associations in Baden-Württemberg went on strike on local public transport.

Berlin

At the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), passengers have to wait longer for buses on Monday. According to the company, individual trips were canceled on subways and trams. The strike is expected to end around 2 p.m.

Collective bargaining employees at BVG and the BVG subsidiary Berlin Transport are also on strike all day on Thursday (February 29) and until 2 p.m. on Friday. The BVG also points out that routes and offers that are operated by other companies on behalf of the BVG are not affected by the strike.

Brandenburg

The Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft is on strike all day on Wednesday. The Ostprignitz-Ruppiner local public transport (ORP) will follow on Thursday and twelve transport companies across the state will go on strike on Friday:

Bremen

In Bremen, possible public transport strikes are not yet entirely clear. Hesse

In Hesse, the Verdi union is planning warning strikes for local public transport. Currently there is only information for the city, where the trams and bus lines 1 to 29 of Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft AG (KVG) are affected on Friday and Saturday. The responsible Verdi committee will not meet until Monday to discuss further warning strikes; the information will be provided here later.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

In Verdi is calling on collective bargaining employees to go on a warning strike on Friday from midnight to 11:59 p.m. Local public transport (TV-N) and the Vorpommern Rügen transport company (VVR) are affected. There will also be a rally in the state capital Schwerin on this day.

Lower Saxony

According to Verdi, the main strike days are Thursday and Friday. Hanover, Braunschweig, Osnabrück, Wolfsburg and Goslar are particularly affected. There will be a strike in Göttingen from Wednesday (February 28) to Friday.

North Rhine-Westphalia

In North Rhine-Westphalia, Verdi is calling for a 48-hour warning strike on Thursday and Friday. “Numerous municipal transport companies” across the state are affected; the union lists more than 30 in one.

Rhineland-Palatinate

Schleswig-Holstein

A five-day warning strike at private bus companies began on Monday morning. Verdi also called for this. The union initially assumed that there would hardly be any reliable bus transport in rural areas. Urban traffic in Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Neumünster is not affected.
