A “bloodbath” in the USA if Trump loses the presidential election? Another remark from Trump causes irritation. It remains unclear what exactly he meant.
Former US President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump caused a stir with statements about a “bloodbath” if he were defeated in the election. He made the remark as he announced at a campaign event how he would make it more difficult for Chinese cars to be sold in the US market.
China is building several huge factories in Mexico and ultimately wants to sell the cars produced there in the USA, said the Republican on Saturday (local time) in Vandalia, Ohio. Trump warned China’s leader Xi Jinping: “We’re going to put a 100 percent tariff on every single car that comes across the border, and you won’t be able to sell those cars if I’m elected.” Immediately afterwards he said: “If I am not elected, there will be a bloodbath. (…) It will be a bloodbath for the country.”
US President Joe Biden’s campaign team took up Trump’s remark and accused the Republican of wanting “another January 6th,” CNN reported. Biden’s team was referring to the events on January 6, 2021, when Trump supporters stormed the parliament building in the capital Washington. Trump and Biden will most likely face each other again in the November election.
Trump’s campaign team disagreed. The ex-president referred to the consequences of Biden’s policies on the US auto industry, CNN reported, citing campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. “Biden’s policies will cause an economic bloodbath for the auto industry and its workers,” Leavitt said.
It wasn’t Trump’s only provocative remark about the upcoming US presidential election in November during his appearance in Ohio. “If this election is not won, I’m not sure there will ever be another election in this country,” said the 77-year-old.
