In the end, he spoke for almost two hours: French President Emmanuel Macron delivered his much-heralded speech on Europe this afternoon between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the auditorium of La Sorbonne University in Paris. He had to cough a few times and seemed a bit strained, as he has already explained it so many times: Europe must strengthen its sovereignty in order to survive in the world – that has been Emmanuel Macron’s central message to France and the international community for years.
