Last year the Ukrainians liberated the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, but from across the Dnieper River the Russians are now shelling the city every day. Here too, the residents are noticing that the pressure on the front is increasing.
The old city center of Kherson seems deserted. With every block closer to the banks of the Dnieper, the destruction increases. On Michailivska Street, almost every building has been damaged by artillery shelling, some apartments are completely burned out, and most of them are missing window panes. Here and there there are piles of brick rubble and plaster on the footpath – evidence of the last shelling.
