How serious is Maximilian Krah really about his promise not to appear in public again in the European election campaign?
Despite a ban on appearances by the AfD leadership, European candidate Maximilian Krah appeared in the election campaign. The “Bild” newspaper reported that Krah was standing in front of a shopping center in Dresden on Wednesday afternoon wearing a blue AfD jacket.
The AfD party leadership at least noticed the appearance afterwards. The party leadership initially refrained from making a public comment, probably because it was not a large event.
The newspaper published pictures showing the 47-year-old from Saxony in a blue jacket with the AfD logo, holding a coffee mug and a cigarette in his hand, next to a few people and an AfD parasol. It is not clear when exactly the pictures were taken.
Krah’s controversial statements about the SS
On May 22, the party leadership banned Krah from appearing in the election campaign. The specific reason was Krah’s controversial statements about the SS. But Krah had already been under pressure because of the espionage scandal involving an employee and because of his proximity to Russia and China.
Krah had promised at the time that he would not appear. The “Bild” newspaper now quotes Krah as saying: “Putting up posters with the local group without the press is not an election campaign appearance. That is grassroots work.”
