The verdict in the hush money trial has been pronounced, Trump is guilty. A victory for justice and the United States of America. And the trials themselves were a humiliation and punishment for the former president.
It was the weakest of the four cases against Donald Trump. If you asked ten Americans what the criminal trial in Manhattan was about, you would get ten different answers, but the words “porn star” and “hush money” always came up, two things that fit Trump as well as the words fake tan and hair tincture.
It became – in people’s language – the “hush money case”, although hush money is not a criminal offense in the USA, even if it is used to avert a political scandal.
