The threat of terrorism in France is very high. Now, just before the start of the Olympic Games, there are arrests for possible attack plans.
A few weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris, arrests were made in two places in connection with possible terrorist plans. These are two different alleged threats, said Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin in an interview with broadcaster BFMTV.
Several people were arrested who may have been planning and preparing terrorist attacks. “They are currently being handed over to the judicial authorities,” said Darmanin. He did not provide details about the arrests or the nature of the terrorist plans. The Summer Olympics are scheduled to start on July 26.
The Interior Minister said that the terrorist threat in France remains “extremely high”, especially ahead of the Olympic Games. France declared the highest terror alert level in March. At the end of May, investigators foiled plans for an Islamist terrorist attack on a football match during the Olympic Games.
