Biden says the Democrats are free to nominate someone other than him at their convention in mid-August, but that will not happen.
Joe Biden does not want to show any self-doubt in the debate about his suitability as a US presidential candidate. The Democrats are free to nominate someone else at their party convention in mid-August, the 81-year-old replied to a corresponding question at his final press conference at the NATO summit in Washington. “Of course they are free to do what they want. But I have overwhelming support.”
If he showed up at the convention and everyone said they wanted someone else, that would be a democratic process. “That’s not going to happen,” he added in a whisper. Biden said he was the most qualified to govern – and to win. “There are other people who could beat Trump. But they would have to start from scratch.”
