CDU politician Adeline Abimnwi Awemo was racially insulted and attacked while hanging election posters in Cottbus. The state CDU announced this after the incident on Thursday evening.

Awemo, who is running for the state election in the fall, was racially insulted by a woman. According to the party, the politician was slightly injured in the incident. The police confirmed the attack. CDU state chairman Jan Redmann was shocked and said: “The increasing risk for people who are politically active for our country is unbearable.”

The CDU politician with German nationality was born in Cameroon. She sits on the Advisory Council for Integration and Migration in Cottbus. In the state elections, she is running as a direct candidate for the CDU in the Cottbus-South constituency.
