Gaza War: Reports of confrontation in Israeli military camp

Suspected Hamas terrorists are also being held in the Sde Teiman military camp. The military police are reportedly investigating allegations of abuse against soldiers.

According to Israeli media reports, a raid by Israeli military police on a military base led to confrontations with soldiers stationed there. The police came to the Sde Teiman camp near the desert city of Beersheba to arrest soldiers on suspicion of mistreatment, several Israeli media reported. They were investigating allegations of a case of severe mistreatment of a Palestinian prisoner.

An Israeli army spokesman confirmed that an investigation had been launched into suspected abuse. According to media reports, angry demonstrators entered the camp to protest against the measures.

The Sde Teiman prison camp also holds fighters from an elite unit of the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas. The human rights organization Amnesty International recently accused Israel of mistreating and torturing Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip.

There are thousands of so-called security prisoners in Israeli prisons. Many were arrested during the massacre by terrorists from Hamas and other groups on October 7, and many more during the Gaza war that followed.
