On their summer trips through Germany, government members try not only to give speeches and shake hands, but also to talk directly with citizens. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock also gave a taste of her sporting skills on her summer tour of North Rhine-Westphalia.
During a visit to TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the Green Party politician not only talked to athletes with disabilities and the owner of a prosthetics manufacturer. During the visit, she also swapped her dress for gym clothes and got on a trampoline.
Before her political career, Baerbock was a competitive athlete – as a trampoline gymnast. After the visit to Leverkusen, the minister then went on to Cologne to the European Astronaut Center of the European Space Agency (ESA).
