He was considered the face of Hamas, led its political wing and shaped the Gaza Strip for decades: Now Ismail Haniya is dead. The head of the Islamist organization’s political bureau was killed in what was probably a targeted attack in Iran. Hamas blames Israel for this. For the country, it would probably be the biggest success so far after the Hamas terror attack on October 7, when the terrorist group killed around 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped more than 200 people. But how much does Haniya’s death really weaken the organization?
