Israel is currently on high alert. Chief of Staff General Halevi announces clear messages to the country’s enemies – especially to the new Hamas leader Sinwar.
Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi sees the election of the former head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip as the new head of the Islamists’ political bureau as an additional motivation to track down Jihia al-Sinwar. “We will make every effort to find him, target him and ensure that the head of the political bureau is replaced again,” Halevi said during a visit to an air force base.
“We have carried out very important operations in recent weeks, eliminating the highest-ranking commanders of our most problematic enemies, and we are not stopping.” Sinwar’s new title does not absolve him of being a murderer, Halevi said of the Hamas leader, who is considered the mastermind of the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.
After visiting the base, Halevi stressed the military’s “highest level of readiness” in light of the escalation of the past few days. “We will know how to carry out a very rapid offensive anywhere in Lebanon, anywhere in Gaza, anywhere in the Middle East, above or below ground,” he stressed. “We will send a very clear message to our enemies, to those who attack us, to those who talk in every speech about how they will destroy the State of Israel.”
