US election campaign: Harris in Milwaukee: Race against Trump is getting close

US Vice President Kamala Harris has turned the US presidential election on its head. But victory against Donald Trump is by no means certain for her. She has made this clear to her supporters.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has sworn her party to a close race for the White House. “We know it’s going to be a close race until the end. We have a tough job ahead of us, but we like hard work, hard work is good work,” Harris shouted at an appearance in Milwaukee. “No, no, we haven’t won yet,” the 59-year-old continued, apparently responding to shouts from the audience. Harris is slightly ahead of her Republican challenger Donald Trump in national polls, but her lead is often within the margin of error.

Performance does not take place anywhere

Harris had just been confirmed as the presidential candidate for the November election with a big show at the Democratic Party convention in Chicago. The US Vice President appeared in front of supporters in Milwaukee, about an hour’s drive away, immediately afterwards. The event took place in the hall where the Republicans held their party convention with Trump about a month ago.

Harris assured her supporters with a view to the presidential election on November 5th: “We will win.” But hard work will have to be done before the election. She warned: “This is not just about us versus Donald Trump. It is about two very different visions for our country.” The Democrats are concentrating on the future, the Republicans on the past, said Harris.

Harris warns against Trump

At the end of her speech, Harris said: “Let us be very clear: Anyone who seeks to override the Constitution of the United States should never again have the opportunity to stand behind the seal of the President of the United States. Never again.” Almost two years ago, Trump called for a departure from the US Constitution, citing alleged electoral fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Medical emergency in the audience

During the Democrat’s appearance in Milwaukee, a medical emergency apparently occurred in the audience. Harris interrupted her speech and said, “We need a paramedic here, please.” She asked the audience to form an aisle. Finally, she raised her thumb, indicating that the situation was under control. “That’s what we’re about, we look out for each other, we care for each other,” she added.
