There is an opaque dispute surrounding Russia’s largest online retailer Wildberries. In the middle: politicians from several republics and Putin’s confidant Ramzan Kadyrov.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has threatened three Russian politicians from the North Caucasus with blood revenge. In a speech to officers of the security apparatus in Grozny in the Islamic republic of Chechnya, he accused the three of having ordered his murder.
Kadyrov published the video of the speech on Telegram. The background is a business conflict over Russia’s largest online retailer Wildberries. This degenerated into a shooting in Moscow in September in which two people died.
Ramzan Kadyrov threatens politicians from neighboring republics
Kadyrov’s threats were directed against two politicians from the neighboring republic of Dagestan: Sulejman Kerimov, a senator in the Russian Federation Council, and Risvan Kurbanov, a deputy in the State Duma in Moscow. The third person named by the Chechen leader was Duma deputy Bekchan Barachoyev from the neighboring republic of Ingushetia.
The company founder Tatjana Kim and her husband Wladislaw Bakalschuk are fighting over the online department store Wildberries with its billions in sales. In September he tried to gain access to the company headquarters by force. Two Wildberries guards from Ingushetia died in a shooting in Moscow. Kerimov from Dagestan is on the company founder’s side in the dispute, while Kadyrov is on her husband’s side.
In the video, Kadyrov threatens politicians from neighboring nations, but at the same time demands that the incident in Moscow not be used to create an ethnic dispute. He supposedly abolished the blood feud in Chechnya, but he repeatedly threatens it to his opponents. To ensure Russia’s control over restive Chechnya, the Kremlin has given Kadyrov free rein to impose dictatorial rule.
