CSU party conference: Söder: CSU ready for new elections

CSU leader Markus Söder wants to set the lines for the next federal election at the party conference in Augsburg. In his opinion, this could come earlier than actually planned.

According to its party leader Markus Söder, the CSU is preparing for new federal elections before the end of the current legislative period. “We are preparing for new elections, we are preparing for the elections,” said Söder before the start of a two-day CSU party conference in Augsburg.

You can get started straight away

A date for new elections can be set from immediately until the regularly scheduled election date. “In any case, we are preparing for the fact that it can be brought forward,” said Söder. “We can get started immediately, we have completed the organization accordingly.”

Every day that the traffic light government stays in office longer is a wasted day, said Söder. “In fact, this government is clinically dead.”

The CSU wants to lead Germany out of the economic crisis and end the migration crisis. For this, Germany needs a bourgeois government, with CDU party leader Friedrich Merz as the future Chancellor and a strong CSU.

“Black-green is a dead horse”

Söder once again clearly rejected any collaboration with the Greens after the next federal election. “If the Union relies on green, then it will lose, then it will not reach 30 percent,” he said. Then it would be planned from the outset that the Union would have to start weakened into a federal government. “Black-green is a dead horse. Betting on it is a mistake.” The Greens failed the government test.
