Paul Biya, 91, likes to live away from home. Preferably at the Hotel Intercontinental in Geneva. But Cameroon’s president has not been seen anywhere for over a month.
At the beginning of October they stood in front of the Percy military hospital near Paris and chanted: “Hand him over! Send him home!” And again and again: “Murderer! Murderer!” But the shouts of the protesters went unanswered at the doors of the security fence.
The man his political opponents call “murderer” is Cameroon’s President Paul Biya. The despot has ruled the country on the Central African west coast since 1982, and there has been no trace of him for almost six weeks. It’s not just the opposition that is increasingly asking loudly: Where is Paul Biya?
