The FDP parliamentary group is planning another meeting with business

Separate meetings between parts of the coalition and business associations have sparked criticism. The Chancellor wants to stick to his strategy for the time being. And the FDP is also stepping up.

The FDP parliamentary group is planning another meeting with business associations next Monday. A spokesman for the German Press Agency faction said this. Many associations and companies came forward who would like to discuss further suggestions.

A spokesman for parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr said the meeting with business representatives would take place on Monday at 1 p.m. Dürr, Finance Minister and FDP leader Christian Lindner as well as industry associations would take part. The circle should be expanded compared to Tuesday’s meeting.

An industrial summit with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) took place on Tuesday, but neither Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) nor Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) were invited. A few hours earlier, the FDP parliamentary group had organized its own summit with Lindner, to which medium-sized businesses and trades were also invited. Five associations that were not at the industrial summit were represented – including the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Lindner and Habeck should not be invited to the next industrial summit in the Chancellery. “At the moment, the group of those who came together yesterday is scheduled for the meeting on November 15th,” said government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit. At the summit on Tuesday there were 13 representatives from industrial associations, unions and selected large companies.

According to Hebestreit, there will be at least one more meeting in the current circle after November 15th. There should also be discussions at working level in between. The Chancellor’s stated goal is to forge a “pact for industry”.
