China’s head of state Xi warns Trump against arguments

China’s head of state and party leader Xi Jinping has warned Donald Trump against taking a confrontational course after his re-election as US President. History has shown that the People’s Republic and the United States benefit from cooperation, while strife harms both, Xi said in his congratulatory message, according to Chinese state media. A stable and healthy relationship between Beijing and Washington is also the expectation of the international community. China hopes that differences of opinion will be “handled appropriately” and that “correct” interactions will be maintained. According to US broadcaster CNN, Trump and Xi spoke to each other on the phone.
The relationship between the world’s two largest economies has been extremely tense for some time. Some experts see it at a low point.
