Crisis in Germany
Moscow: Renunciation of our gas plunged traffic light into crisis

Russia has long painted the picture of a Germany that is teetering on the brink of economic collapse because of its aid to Ukraine. Moscow is not the only one criticizing politics in Berlin.
Russia sees the failure of the traffic light coalition in Germany as a consequence of alleged US subordination to Berlin politics. “Berlin has failed to retain Russian gas that is vital to its citizens and its industrial and economic complex,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. The economy is therefore no longer growing as strongly. She derogatorily referred to Germany as a “banana republic.”
The federal government “obediently watches as its industries and companies move to the United States just because it is so convenient for Washington.” In the course of this “masochism,” Germany also renounces the appearance of independence and clearly presents itself as the representative of American neoliberalism in the EU.
Lukashenko: Scholz has to go
Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, Moscow’s power apparatus has repeatedly claimed that the Western states are bringing themselves to economic ruin by helping Kiev, which is a “bottomless pit.” Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin also described it as a mistake to forego comparatively cheap Russian gas and instead buy expensive gas from the USA.
In Belarus, ruler Alexander Lukashenko blamed Chancellor Olaf Scholz for Germany’s reeling. “If you throw this Scholz out of office, Germany will come back to itself,” he said. “Cheap gas, cheap energy, the world’s leading economy, a miracle – where are they today? On their knees,” said Lukashenko, who is considered Europe’s last dictator after more than 30 years in power.
