Donald Trump has made the next personnel decision. A congressional ally is set to become a UN ambassador.
US President-elect Donald Trump wants to make Republican MP Elise Stefanik ambassador to the United Nations in New York. The 40-year-old has repeatedly appeared as a loyal ally of Trump in recent years. So Stefanik addressed his false claims about fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Trump announced his decision for Stefanik in statements to the New York Post and the TV station CBS, among others. Stefanik is strong and smart and for her, America comes first, he argued.
As UN ambassador, Stefanik would have to be confirmed by the US Senate. Trump’s Republicans took the majority in the House of Representatives from the Democrats in the election.
