Stephen Miller has been tipped as Trump’s potential homeland security secretary. Instead, he will probably get an influential position in the White House.
According to media reports, one of the architects of former President Donald Trump’s restrictive immigration policy, Stephen Miller, is set to get a key position in the White House in the new administration. Miller should become deputy chief of staff to the future US president, reported the news channel CNN and the New York Times, among others. He should have far-reaching influence, it was said, citing informed people.
Trump’s Vice President-elect JD Vance praised the personnel decision as a “fantastic choice” according to initial media reports. The 39-year-old Miller was already an adviser in the White House during Trump’s first term. Miller is credited with detailing plans for the mass deportations announced by Trump.
Miller: America for Americans only
At one of Trump’s campaign events, Miller shouted to the crowd: “America is for Americans – and only for Americans.” Trump will drive criminal migrants, cartels and gangs out of the country, he said.
Miller has also been considered a possible candidate for Secretary of Homeland Security in recent days. He would have to be confirmed to this position by the Senate. This is not necessary for the position on the President’s staff.
After his election victory last week, Republican Trump is scheduled to be sworn in for a second term as president on January 20th.
