Another TV presenter should be in Trump’s cabinet

It has long been known that the future US President Trump often watches the Fox news channel. Now he has found his candidate for the office of transport minister there.
Donald Trump wants to bring the next TV presenter into the government: The US President-elect has nominated former Republican congressman and current television presenter Sean Duffy as Secretary of Transportation.
Among other things, it should usher in “a golden era of travel,” Trump’s announcement said. Duffy will focus on “excellence, competence, competitiveness and beauty” in rebuilding America’s infrastructure and ensuring that “our ports and dams serve our economy without compromising our national security,” Trump said on Monday. Trump also praised his advocacy for “fiscal responsibility” in the US House of Representatives.

Trump’s government says it wants to cut spending and reduce regulations. The future Republican head of state further announced that Duffy would abolish the programs to promote diversity among pilots and air traffic controllers.
The 53-year-old Duffy was a member of the US House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019 and is currently co-hosting a show on Fox Business.
Trump has been known as an avid viewer of Fox news networks for years. Last week he selected Fox News presenter and former soldier Pete Hegseth for the post of defense secretary. The nomination raised questions as political observers in Washington questioned Hegseth’s competence for the office. In addition, reports that Hegseth was involved in a sexual harassment investigation seven years ago raised doubts about his appointment.

Sean Duffy has ties to Elon Musk
Duffy has been one of the TV personalities who have represented Trump’s positions on Fox news networks in recent years. His wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, was Hegseth’s co-host on a Fox News weekend show.
The Ministry of Transportation, with a budget of around $110 billion, is facing major challenges: the high number of traffic fatalities, quality problems at Boeing and pressure from the auto industry – especially from Tesla – to relax the rules for autonomous driving.
Duffy’s ties to Elon Musk’s company are therefore likely to receive particular attention. Musk, who heads the newly created efficiency agency in Trump’s administration, is already under increased scrutiny from the Department of Transportation over an investigation into Tesla’s autopilot system and a possible penalty for SpaceX for space license violations.
