They were able to escape from Gaza – no one wants them in Egypt

Around 100,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza to the neighboring country. They are not allowed to work legally and the children are not allowed to go to school. Visiting people in no man’s land.
Sometimes Fatma Shaban dreams of her former life: she lies in bed in her apartment in Gaza. The windows are closed, the light comes through the open door. She hears her three children, Ouassim, Lian and Zain, playing outside the house and bickering, as they often do. The war does not exist in this dream. Shaban feels safe and happy.
When she wakes up and realizes where she is, she cries. “I want to go back to that dream,” says Shaban. “This warmth inside me. This is where I should be.”
