Another attack by Israel – eleven dead in Beirut

The Israeli military attacked again in the middle of Beirut – without warning. At least eleven people were killed. The number of dead and missing continues to rise.
The Lebanese capital Beirut was once again subjected to a fierce attack by the Israeli Air Force. A building in the densely populated Basta district was destroyed. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least eleven people were killed and 63 others were injured.
Lebanese security circles reported that the attack was aimed at a Hezbollah official. There were initially no further details.
Eyewitnesses reported that the massive explosions shook the entire city. There was massive damage. The rescue work continued. The attack occurred around 4:00 a.m. (local time). According to the state news agency, an eight-story building was completely destroyed in the attack.
No request for residents to evacuate
The Israeli military had not previously issued an evacuation request to residents of the affected area. The residential area is not far from the parliament and the Grand Serail government palace.
Israel’s air force has been attacking the southern suburbs of Beirut in several waves since Friday. According to eyewitnesses, there were already several attacks there in the morning. The Israeli military previously issued evacuation calls. The army spoke of attacks on Hezbollah’s weapons depots and “terrorist infrastructure”.
Many of the residents of the suburbs known as Dahija have already fled. Dahija is considered a Hezbollah stronghold.
The Israeli armed forces repeatedly attack targets in Lebanon. The pro-Iranian Shiite militia Hezbollah, for its part, fires dozens of rockets at Israel every day. In total, more than 3,645 people have been killed in Lebanon since fighting began between Israel and Hezbollah over a year ago, according to the Health Ministry. The count does not distinguish between civilians and fighters from the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia.
