According to the ceasefire agreement, Hezbollah must withdraw from the area near the Israel-Lebanese border. According to Israel, there have been violations of this.
Despite the start of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, the army said there were still isolated deaths there. Israeli forces killed Hezbollah members in the south of the country, military spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a speech in the evening. Their presence in the area violates the agreement. “Any violation of the ceasefire will be met with fire.”
The agreement calls for Hezbollah to withdraw behind the Litani River, about 30 kilometers north of the Israeli-Lebanese border.
Israeli soldiers also arrested suspects who approached areas in the south of the country where Israeli troops were still stationed. Armed people there would be killed or arrested, said Hagari.
He again warned Lebanese civilians to wait before returning to the area.
Before the agreement came into force on Wednesday night, the army attacked around 180 Hezbollah targets. This also included an underground facility for rocket production that was around one and a half kilometers long. According to the army, this was the largest site for the production of precision missiles for the Lebanese militia.
