For Israel and Lebanon there will be 60 important days during which the ceasefire should hold. On the first day after it came into force, the Lebanese army accused Israel of violating it.
The Lebanese army has accused Israel of several violations of the ceasefire with Hezbollah that has been in effect since Wednesday. Israel violated the agreement several times on Wednesday and Thursday, the Lebanese army said. There was talk of “air violations” and attacks on Lebanese territory with “various weapons”. The army command is investigating these violations in consultation with the “relevant authorities”. The army did not provide any further details.
The Israeli military announced on Thursday that the air force had attacked a weapons depot of the Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon, citing “terrorist activity” at the location. It was also said that the army would remain deployed in the region to take action against violations of the ceasefire agreement.
In addition to an end to hostilities, the agreement also provides for a commission to monitor violations. The group led by the USA and France also includes Lebanon, Israel and the UN peacekeeping force Unifil, according to the agreement available to the German Press Agency.
