The Chess Player: Voigt’s risky game for Thuringia

As CDU Prime Minister, Mario Voigt wants to solve the problem in Thuringia. It will be his toughest game yet. And Björn Höcke is lurking in the background.
Mario Voigt spoke for an hour in his office in the Erfurt state parliament. About how he had an appointment at the White House. About how well he gets along with Friedrich Merz. About how he wants to politically resocialize Thuringia.
The thermos flask filled with tea that stands on the coffee table in front of him is almost empty; the next guest is waiting outside. Just one more question: How often does Mr. Voigt play chess?
Voigt just looked serious, now he’s smiling. Twice a day, he replies. Blitz chess, a game lasts three minutes. He jumps up, goes to the desk, gets his cell phone, opens the chess app and shows the display on which a number lights up: 2210. That, he says, is “pretty okay.”
