Prince Andrew, King Charles’ younger brother, is making negative headlines again. This time the focus is on his connection to a Chinese businessman.
A businessman and close confidant of Prince Andrew (64), who is suspected of being in the service of the Chinese government, has rejected allegations of espionage. Yang Tengbo described such reports as “completely false.” He said through his lawyer that concerns that the British Home Office had expressed against him were unfounded. A court had previously revealed the man’s identity.
The British Home Office banned Tengbo from entering the UK last year due to security concerns. Accordingly, he is said to have secretly worked for the Chinese Communist Party. An appeal against the decision was rejected last week.
Prince Andrew, for whom the man partly worked, announced that he had stopped all contact with the man on the advice of the British government when doubts were raised.
For the brother of King Charles (76), the second eldest son of Queen Elizabeth, who died in 2022, the previous connection to the controversial businessman is further damage to his image.
Because of previous connections to US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019 and was at the center of an abuse scandal, Andrew has had to largely withdraw from public life.
