Embarrassing scene: Olaf Scholz ignores his party leader

After the vote of confidence, Chancellor Scholz chatted briefly with the SPD parliamentary group leader. Party leader Saskia Esken also wanted to say something – but was ignored.
Olaf Scholz stands in front of the government bench in the Bundestag after losing the vote of confidence. A few moments ago, 394 MPs withdrew their confidence in him.
The parliamentary group leader of Scholz’s SPD, Rolf Mützenich, exchanges a few words with the current chancellor and shakes his hand.
SPD leader Saskia Esken approaches from behind on white sneaker soles. Scholz only gives her a quick glance before diluting himself together with Mützenich – without saying a word to the party leader.

Esken nods briefly and then stretches out his hands in a gesture that wants to say “Uh, are you just going to run away? Okay, then not,” it says as ordered and not picked up. Then she turns on her heel again.
Scholz literally ignores his party leader – or gives her the cold shoulder, depending on which formulation you prefer. After all, Scholz looked at Esken, the video evidence shows it:

That’s why there’s already a lot of speculation on X about the Scholz-Esken relationship.
“You could clearly see immediately after the vote of confidence how much Saskia Esken has to report compared to Rolf Mützenich,” writes one. “This shows how divided the SPD is,” another said.
Malice for the scene in the Bundestag after a vote of confidence
There is also a lot of malice poured out towards the SPD characters.
“Is that harsh” and “I once received such a rejection from my crush at the children’s disco during the summer camp” are comparatively mild side blows.
People also react maliciously to political opponents. Former CDU general secretary Paul Ziemiak wrote on
Scholz: “Embarrassing of me”
What exactly Olaf Scholz and Rolf Mützenich had to say to each other and whether the man with the loss of trust deliberately ignored Saskia Esken – only the three know best.
But in the end everything was fine again – if you believe the Chancellor’s words. “Saskia and I watched the video. Embarrassing for me – luckily we were both able to laugh about it…” wrote Scholz on X.

And the Social Democrats are also trying to cover up the embarrassing situation with humor. Under a photo that shows Scholz with an eye patch after an accident, the party executive wrote: “Maybe the other eye also got something back then…”.
