Ukraine accuses Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov of war crimes. A few hours later, the general and his adjutant died in an explosion in Moscow.
Unofficially, the Ukrainian secret service SBU portrays the murder of Russian General Igor Kirillov as his crime. Several media outlets in Kiev, including the Interfax Ukraina news agency, unanimously report this, citing intelligence sources.
“Kirillov was a war criminal and a perfectly legitimate target because he ordered the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers,” the SBU source was quoted as saying. Such statements are not official. However, the Ukrainian services often provide information about their actions in this way.

The general and his adjutant were killed in Moscow on Tuesday morning when an explosive device hidden on an electric scooter was detonated. Russian authorities are investigating terrorism.
Kirillov was head of Russia’s NBC defense troops and was therefore responsible for protecting against threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. During the war of aggression against Ukraine, he repeatedly made public allegations that the USA was operating secret biolaboratories in the neighboring country. These allegations have not been substantiated.
In the past few days, several people who are important to the Russian war effort and who are viewed as war criminals in Ukraine have been killed on the Russian side. These include a rocket designer and the former head of a prisoner of war camp.
